šŸ“5 things to check before sending an email

An informal checklist.

I hated email marketing until I fell in love with it.

Thatā€™s a weird intro, and a story for another day, but Iā€™m slowly morphing into an email marketing nerd.

At this point, Iā€™ve sent thousands of emails for my company and other brands, so Iā€™m slowly but surely, picking up helpful tips along the way.

I figured today, Iā€™d share five things you need to check before hitting send on an email marketing campaign.

  1. Check your subject line. I use OmniSendā€™s free Email Subject Line Tester to get a feel for my performance. I love this tool.

  2. Review how the design/layout looks on desktop and mobile. Keep a special eye on mobile! Porch Media Group reports that 41.6% of emails are opened on mobile devices. You should also make sure the main details of your message are above the fold (This is the part where the user has to scroll to see more content).

  3. Click every link and make sure they work and go to the right place.

  4. Check your content for any typos or grammatical errors. You should also read through the content slooowwlly and out loud to make sure itā€™s easy-to-read and understand.

  5. Double check the sender name and email address. Admittedly, I overlooked that once and got burned. Sharing is caringā€¦Donā€™t make my mistakes! :)

I hope these help!

If youā€™re an email marketer, what tips would you add to this list?! Feel free to reply to this email with yours. Iā€™d love to share them with everyone!
