🍴It's the packaging, not the present
We're all kind of saying the same thing.
I’m sure you’ve watched a movie when someone gets up on stage and completely draws a blank. Then, they dramatically run off in total embarrassment with their face in their hands.
That’s what it feels like when you log into LinkedIn and stare at the “Start a post” prompt in the empty text box.
The more you stare at it, the more it taunts you.
So, you end up X’ing out of the tab and start something else.
I had a realization that I think can help you avoid these scenarios:
We’re all talking about the same topics.
That’s not a dig.
It’s the truth and it’s not a bad thing.
What sets us apart is how we package and present our content.
Think of it this way…
The common topics are like a present and your unique spin/opinion is the wrapping paper.
Yes, your audience will get the same present so to say, but they’ll get in different packaging that’s unique to you and speaks to them.
Your ability to dress up your “present” is what makes it feel different to your audience.
When you understand this, you remove the pressure of thinking you have to reinvent the wheel or come up with something novel every time you log in.
So, get out your best wrapping paper and bows, and share your gifts with the world!
Are we connected on LinkedIn yet? If we aren’t let’s do it!
