If you’re coming off a little LinkedIn break, either from the 4th of July weekend or a vacation, getting back into things can be a struggle.

You might be feeling pressure to start with something BIG. Something so impressive it makes up for the silence.

Meanwhile, the real energy of your first post back is that trending TikTok audio, “Hey… how y’all doin?”

Right now, you’re a little apprehensive and convinced everyone noticed you were away.

But, let’s be real. Everyone’s too self-concerned to realize you took a little break.

Your audience spent the holiday weekend scrolling past hundreds of posts, at the beach or their cookout, half-paying attention.

The one you have to worry about is the algorithm. You’ve got to get back in its good graces.

You do that by defrosting your presence.

So here's how I'd ease back in this week.

Comment before you post. Spend your first few days back commenting more than you did before your pause. Comments rebuild your visibility and remind people (and the algorithm) you exist, for a fraction of the effort a post takes.

Start simple. Your first posts back should be easy to write and easy to read. You're rebuilding rhythm, and rhythm comes from reps.

Here are three low-stakes posts to get you there:

1️⃣ The reintroduction. Share 5 to 10 fun facts about yourself. Make sure it’s a mix of personal and professional. A post like this gives your followers context, and longtime followers learn something surprising.

2️⃣ The travel post. Talk about where you went, what stood out, or something funny that happened. Skip the forced lesson. If there's a takeaway, great, and if the post is just "here's the beach that reminded me phones are optional," that works too. Add a picture if you have one.

3️⃣ The what's-ahead post. Give people a quick glimpse at what you're working on or are excited about this quarter.

Defrosting feels awkward because it kind of is, and that’s 100% OK.

Keep pushing.

You'll be back in the swing of things in no time.
