🍴Finding your newsletter format
Three tips inside
591 words ⬇️
Do you ever feel like you don’t know where to start?
You have an idea, but making it make sense feels like a long shot.
That’s how it felt when I first started The Lunch Break🍴
I’d have an idea but struggled to turn it into a newsletter. A lot of times, they felt like blogs.
So, I decided to do something about it, and through my research (mainly the Growth in Reverse podcast), I came up with a format I could follow.
I wanted something simple and universal.
I talked about it briefly on Wednesday, but it’s:
Start with a story/introduction to create context.
Clearly identify the problem.
Offer a solution with advice/tactical tips.
End with a call to action.
There are no frills, just a straightforward format I can follow every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Start learning AI in 2025
Everyone talks about AI, but no one has the time to learn it. So, we found the easiest way to learn AI in as little time as possible: The Rundown AI.
It's a free AI newsletter that keeps you up-to-date on the latest AI news, and teaches you how to apply it in just 5 minutes a day.
Plus, complete the quiz after signing up and they’ll recommend the best AI tools, guides, and courses – tailored to your needs.
How can you create one for your newsletter? Here are three tips:
Borrow inspiration. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Take a look at your favorite newsletters. What about theirs do you like? Keep an eye on their structure and tone. How can you borrow those elements and put a creative spin on them?
Start with your strengths. If you force things, your ideas won’t flow. You have to start with your strengths. Maybe it’s storytelling or turning your advice into bulleted lists; whatever it is, work around it.
Create a template. If you’re more of a visual person, create a reusable outline with placeholders for each section and plug in the information. Once everything’s in one place, you can work your magic and turn it into one cohesive piece.
Putting My Format Into Practice
