🍴Get descriptive

It doesn't have to be obvious.

Let’s say you’re scrolling LinkedIn.

You’re doing what we all do from time-to-time which is scroll and randomly Like things without actually reading them.

You’re in a scroll trance.

What hook would snap you out of it?

I’m tired.

This week’s been a long one…

or

My eyes feel like anvils. Every blink is a struggle.

The week is finally catching up to me and my energy levels are as low as my patience when I have to ask my kids to clean up their toys for the 100th time…

If I had to guess (and my hope for the sake of this email) is you’d pick the second one.

Why?

Because you’re curious.

Why the heck do your eyelids feel like anvils? WHY IS IT SO HARD TO BLINK?!

These questions would get your attention and make you want to read the next line.

You want to know WHY?!

That’s the power of getting descriptive.

Descriptions turn the obvious into interesting.

Descriptions stir emotion. Descriptions paint a picture in the readers’ minds. Descriptions makes your readers feel something.

And, when your readers feel something, they’re more compelled to take action whether it’s in the form of engaging with your posts or following through on your CTA.

Descriptions get people’s attention.

Take a look at a piece of content you’re working on. How can you add a description in there to elevate your message?
