🍴How to Repurpose Your LinkedIn Posts

Repurposing your content isn’t always about outperforming the first time you posted.

Sure, that’s an added benefit.

But repurposing your content is a way to give a solid post another shot while fueling your content machine.

I do it often.

I find a high-performer and then make some subtle tweaks before republishing it.

  • It allows your posts to reach your audience without creating new content from scratch.

  • Your entire audience didn’t see your post the first time. Repurposing helps your message reach more people.

  • There’s always room for improvement; repurposing allows you to adjust and improve your content.

How Long Should You Wait Before Reposting?

I typically give a post at least three months before reworking and republishing.

I think that’s just enough time that it doesn’t feel overly repetitive.

Today, I’m walking you through an example of how I repurposed a post.

My Example

Here’s the first post:

Stats:

  • 788 impressions

Now, here’s the refresh I posted last week:

Stats:

  • 547 impressions

You’ll notice that the first post performed slightly better than the repost. Personally, I think the second post’s performance is nothing to be upset about.

It’s still a solid performance!

Let’s dig into the updates I made:

  1. I simplified the hook. I got to the point while keeping the main message intact in the first two sentences.

  2. I edited the middle section. The first pass was wordy. I removed words, shifted phrases, and simplified them the second time.

  3. Again, the conclusion is more straightforward. I like the second version much better. Plus, combining the ideas of those final sentences and ending with something more upbeat tied up the loose ends.

As you can see from this example, this wasn’t a complete overhaul.

I made some edits and tweaks that improved the flow and, in my opinion, strengthened the content.

Your Turn

Here are four ways to refresh a high-performing LinkedIn post.

You don’t have to do every step, but these ideas can help you start.

I bolded the ones I did in this example.

  • Refresh the first sentence.

  • Update the format. (Ex: Turn a bulleted list into a carousel.)

  • Add or take away a few lines of text.

  • Include a picture if you didn't the first time.

Shifting sentences, removing others, and adding new creative can breathe new life into a post.
