Reach is down across the board, and the formats people swore by aren't working the way they used to. It’s genuinely frustrating when you've been doing everything "right."
Even popular formats like video are down 36% year over year.
When you see that, the frustration makes sense.
But it’s not a reason to pull back.
It’s an invitation to try something different.
According to Socialinsider's 2026 LinkedIn Benchmarks report, native document posts are outperforming the platform average, with a 7% engagement rate compared to LinkedIn's overall average of 5.20%, and that number is up 14% year over year.
That’s an encouraging stat and a nudge to try a carousel this week.
Your inbox is full. Slack is piling up. Client messages need a response yesterday. Typing thoughtful replies to all of it takes hours you don't have.
Wispr Flow turns your voice into clean, professional text you can send the moment you stop talking. Speak like you would to a colleague — tangents and all — and get polished output. Emails, Slack, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, whatever's open.
89% of messages sent with zero edits. Used by teams at OpenAI, Vercel, and Clay. Works on Mac, Windows, and iPhone.
My advice is to start with something you've already written, a blog post with a list of takeaways, or a framework you teach regularly. That content translates naturally into slides.
When I create a carousel, I map it out before opening Canva.
I focus on one idea per slide.
The first slide works like a second hook, so treat it that way. Since images are already grabbing attention, the opener needs to set the stage and make someone want to keep scrolling.
Each slide after that should give the reader enough to justify the swipe, but not so much that they check out.
Somewhere between 7 and 10 slides is the sweet spot, and since most people read on their phones, portrait orientation is non-negotiable.
The caption is where people undersell themselves.
Recapping the slides is the most common mistake. Your caption should make someone want to open the carousel, not summarize what's already in it.
Set the stage, spark a little curiosity, and let the slides do the rest.

Give it a shot this week and send it my way when you do. I want to see it!
