When it comes to new businesses and LinkedIn, the obvious move is to build a company page, add the logo, perfect the banner image, and start adding corporate updates.

You know the drill.

But what if you’ve been going about it wrong?

In my opinion, the real magic isn’t about the company but the founder.

Think about it.

When you're scrolling your feed, what usually catches your eye?

The corporate post talking about exciting new developments or the founder sharing his/her honest take on what it’s like to build a business?

The founder content. Always.

You want to learn about their:

  • Entrepreneurial journey.

  • Two cents on the industry.

  • Story of building their brand.

Now, I’m not discounting the value of a company page; they serve a purpose!

But you should pour your energy into showing the person behind the brand as you build it.

Share the journey.

Talk about the industry.

Show us how the brand solves problems differently than the competition.

The founder is the face that makes people want to know more about the brand.
