A three-question gut check

Some posts land.
Others…they taunt you with minimal engagement.
You felt like you had something to say, but once you pressed publish, it fell flat.
Hardly any reactions. No thoughtful comments.
Just you, staring at your bell icon, hoping for a red notification bubble.
I’ve been there. You’ve been there. We’ve all been there.
While I can’t guarantee this will never happen again for you and me, I did put together a quick gut check to better my and your odds of sharing posts people want to read and engage with.
Here are three questions I ask myself (and you can too):

1. Does this teach or connect?
If my post doesn’t share something helpful or relatable, it’s probably just a tick on my daily to-do list.
Yes, sharing tips and actionable advice is great. You WANT to do that, you can also use your posts as a source of connection, too.
It’s worth noting that it doesn’t always have to be a tip or actionable piece of advice. It can also be a source of connection.
Like last week, I shared a post about my daughter finishing pre-K and heading into Kindergarten.
It had nothing to do with work and everything to do with a relatable life moment in watching how fast our kids grow up.
Ask yourself:
Would this post help or resonate with someone I care about?
2. Would I read this if I didn’t write it?
It sounds self-serving, but if your post showed up in your feed, would you read it or scroll by?
Be honest.
If you wouldn’t stop to read it, why would someone else?
I’ve deleted many posts asking myself this question. You should too.
3. Can I say this in fewer words?
Trim the fluff. Cut the filler.
Lose the intro that explains the post before the post.
Focus on clarity and aim to keep posts between 10–15 sentences max.
These aren’t hacks for virality, but they will help you share clear and intentional content.
