🍴It's a trap!
Don't believe everything you see.
Did you read that in Admiral Ackbar’s voice or am I a Star Wars nerd by marriage?

Anyway, I’m kicking off the week with a quick chat about the comparison trap of social media.
It’s so easy to fall into.
Every time we open a social app, we get a glimpse into people’s seemingly “perfect” lives.
We see their massive and unusually clean houses.
We see them on their 38th vacation.
We see them landing the job of YOUR dreams.
When we see these things, we tend to recoil and reflect.
During this reflection, or should I say rumination, we put ourselves down.
We think of everything bad in our lives.
We become envious and characterize these people as “better” than us.
However, we fail to realize that their 30-second post or text-based life update is only a highlight of their life.
In reality, most of these posts are anything but the full picture.
Maybe that person is actually anxious and depressed.
Maybe they’re struggling with the economy and are only a few missed mortgage payments away from losing that grandiose house.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I love social media.
There are SO many positives.
But, more times than not, people are using it as a highlight reel instead of highlighting the REAL aspects of their lives.
So, today, if you feel those feelings of comparison creep in, think of Admiral Ackbar and remind yourself, “It’s a trap!”
