Remember Streetball: The AND1 Mixtape Tour?

I LOVED that show and watched every episode in awe.

I grew up playing basketball, so when I saw The Professor do a crossover move, I thought, ā€œI can do that.ā€

So, I went to my driveway and practiced.

I can only imagine how awkward I looked at first.

And, I’m sure my parents wanted to punt the ball down the street, having to listen to my incessant dribbling and my shoe scraping on the pavement for hours.

But I kept going and eventually got it.

It became my secret weapon at my next basketball practice.

There I was, ball in hand, ready to unveil my new move.

The whistle blew.

It was time.

I did the move - I went one way, and the girl guarding me went the other.

All that was left was a clear path to the hoop.

It worked.

So, I did it again.

I shook the checks off her Nikes.

Again. I turned around after making a layup and saw her getting up off the ground.

Real-life footage of me doing the move.

After the fourth or fifth time, she finally stopped me.

That’s what it’s like in marketing sometimes.

You find a new move (strategy) and test it.

When it’s working, you keep doing it.

But, as soon as your audience catches on and loses interest, you adjust.

How do you know when it’s time to switch things up?

Here are a couple things to look for:

  1. You notice a drop in traffic and engagement. These metrics go hand-in-hand. Without traffic, your engagement suffers. If you notice a dip, pay attention. This could be the early signs it’s time to make tweaks.

  2. You’re not meeting your ROI goals. Let’s be honest: ROI is the North Star of our efforts. If you’re falling short and not seeing the expected returns, it’s time to pivot.

What are some warning signs you look for?

That’s all for today! Thanks for reading šŸ˜Ž
