This rhetorical device will make your writing stick.

245 words ā¬‡ļø

You’ve heard these before:

ā€œTo be, or not to beā€¦ā€

ā€œBond. James Bond.ā€

They're famous. They’re memorable. They’re powered by a rhetorical device called a diacope.

A diacope is the repetition of a word or phrase with a few words in between.

Why does it work?

Because rhythm makes writing stick.

You've been on LinkedIn, so you've seen the volume of content.

It's impressive, but it's crowded. Overwhelming, sometimes.

Finding ways to stand out is more important than ever.

The rhythm of a diacope can make someone stop scrolling and actually remember what you said.

Think of a diacope as repetition, but a deluxe version.

It’s repetition with emphasis and flair, putting your message front and center.

Here’s an example.

Instead of:
ā€œI help CEOs with their LinkedIn.ā€

Try:
ā€œCEOs. Time-strapped CEOs. I turn their words into posts that connect.ā€

Feel the difference?

Those dramatic pauses in the second version slow the reader down and deliver clarity.

Here's why this example works:

āœ… Repeats ā€œCEOsā€ for emphasis
āœ… Adds ā€œtime-strappedā€ to highlight their pain point
āœ… Ends with my unique value: I write LinkedIn content for busy CEOs

Want to try it?

Here's a plug-and-play template:

[Word/Phrase]. [Qualifier + Same Word/Phrase]. [Statement that delivers the meaning].

Think of it this way:

  1. The first word/phrase is your theme. This is what you want people to remember.

  2. The second sentence adds specificity and emotion.

  3. The final line delivers the insight, transformation, or promise.
