🍴When did it happen?

It was a third grade creative writing class.

The last blue plastic and metal chair scraped on the floor and into place.

We just finished pushing our faux-wood desks into groups of four.

I sat there, mechanical pencil in hand, waiting for instructions.

“Use your imagination and write a story!”

Simple.

But, it unlocked something in me…

I sat there, furiously scribbling my story of “The Haunted House” in my notebook.

I remember writing a line about someone turning the knob on the door and it creaking open — my first pass at descriptive writing.

It felt right.

There was this excitement in me as the story unfolded in my mind and landed on paper.

It was magic.

Looking back at it now, that was the exact moment I fell in love with writing.

And, honestly, that love’s only grown.
