🍴Write about what excites YOU
The "write for your audience" paradox
249 words ⬇️
Write for your audience!
We hear it over and over again.
It’s drilled into our heads.
And for good reason.
It’s solid advice and advice we should take.
But, recently, I’ve felt hesitation when coming up with ideas.
“Does anyone care?”
“Is this overdone?”
“What will people think?”
They’re all good questions, but the way I was asking them wasn’t constructive.
It was coming from a place of judgment.
Then I started thinking.
If you’re not writing about what you want to write about, what’s the point?
Building a personal brand aims to get your name out there and attract the attention of people who share your interests.
To attract the people who want to consume what you’re creating.
It’s easy to get lost in best practices, industry standards, and algorithm “hacks.”
Sure, they serve a purpose.
But to serve your audience AND yourself, you have to be honest.
Honest in your efforts.
Honest in your passions.
Honest in your strengths.
If you’re stuck in that mental loop of questioning your content, it’s time to hit the eject button and free yourself to write about what you love.
When you do this, the right eyes will see your content.
Your Turn
This week, I challenge you to write about a topic that excites YOU first.
What would you create if you weren’t worried about vanity metrics and audience expectations?
PS PLEASE share your post with me. I’d love to see what lights you up!
