🍴You need to promote yourself

“If you don’t talk about it, people won’t know about it.”
That’s how I led off my LinkedIn post that promoted The Lunch Break🍴
It’s so easy to hype up other people and their work. It feels natural.
But, when it comes to putting ourselves and our own work out there, it feels foreign.
Borderline uncomfortable.
I struggle with this, but it’s something I’m working on.
My mindset shift:
📣 If I want to attract new subscribers and get my name out there, I have to step up, grab the megaphone, and let people know what I’m up to and why they should care.
So, after a few minutes of hovering over the “Publish” button and contemplating if I should press it, I finally did.
I reminded people I have a newsletter.

And guess what happened?
People welcomed it, I received genuine support, and I attracted five new subscribers.
The Takeaway
People aren't mind readers.
They need a nudge in the right direction to take action.
Here's a plan you can use to promote your newsletter regularly:
Schedule monthly "newsletter reminder" posts.
Post on a consistent day, like the first Monday of the month.
Include a clear call to action. (LinkedIn doesn’t love it when you include external links in your posts. So, if you have a Premium account, I encourage you to change your custom button to the “View My Newsletter” option and encourage people to click that instead.)
Pay attention to performance:
Post engagement
Subscriber growth
Content and creative that resonate.
Pin the post to your profile so it's the first thing people see.
Social media moves fast, and not everyone sees your posts.
Regular, thoughtful reminders about your newsletter will help you reach those who might have missed it.
Your Move!
Write a promotional post for your newsletter.
When writing this post, make sure to include the following:
What topics do you cover?
How often do subscribers hear from you?
What do subscribers learn or gain from your newsletter?
I also suggest sharing some testimonials for social proof.
Once you’re done, share it on your preferred platform and track results.
You might be surprised at how many people have been waiting to subscribe. They just needed that gentle nudge!
