So picture this. You've read your post three times, you think it’s at a good spot, but your cursor’s just parked on the publish button as if you’re waiting for a cosmic sign to click it.
That pause is pretty telling. You want to post, but you’re worried it’s not good enough.
You lack that confidence you think everyone else has. So you keep typing, hoping confidence will overcome you when you type the final word.
In reality, your confidence comes from repetition and checking a handful of specific things, one at a time, until that vague "not sure if I should post this" feeling fades.
The internet antidote to this problem is to post with iNtEnTiOn. But when you hear that, your brain interprets it as another to-do on your list. No wonder you’re stalling. No one wants to write a business manifesto every time they post.
When I think of intention, I think of it another way. I think of it as you know why you’re posting before you hit publish. EVEN IF the reason feels trivial, like, "this made me laugh out loud at my desk" or "I can't stop thinking about this."
That’s the whole point of doing all this. You’re showing people who you are as a professional and a person. That’s why I always say, post the meme, the weird shower idea, or the tip you just shared with your team via Slack. Be a little unhinged if it means it shows your personality. All of it counts with a little positioning.
That’s why I made my Finish-the-Post Checklist. Think of it like a second set of eyes on your posts.
It’s six quick checks that cover your hook, main point, tone, structure, and close with a gut check at the end.
It’s free and it’s helpful. Print it out. Save it to your desktop. Whatever you do, give a skim before you publish your next post. You’ll feel more confident doing so.
