Your stories make you stand out on LinkedIn.

Not your title. Not your resume bullet points. Your stories.

I’m not the only LinkedIn ghostwriter out there, just like you’re not the only person in your position.

What sets us apart isn’t what we do.

It’s how we tell our stories and make people feel.

If you ever thought, I don’t have anything worth sharing, think again.

We all have stories.

  • Maybe it was getting your first job.

  • Taking a leap of faith into a new career.

  • Failing miserably but walking away with a lesson.

  • Saying “yes” to something that led to an opportunity.

Whatever it is, we’ve had moments that shaped how we lead, think, and show up.

It takes a little digging and putting your ego aside to uncover these stories and share them with your audience.

Find a Story to Share

We all have more stories from our experiences than we realize.

You don’t have to pick the “perfect” one to pursue it.

You just need to pick one and start sharing.

Here’s an example to get your wheels turning.

What’s a decision you didn’t think much about at the time but now realize made a big difference in your career?

Once you have the story in mind, dig a little deeper:

In retrospect, how did that decision lead you to where you are today?

Finally...

How would you tell this story to a friend? What lesson could you pass on to them?

Don’t overthink it.

Record a quick voice note if it helps, and use the transcript as your starting point.

Remember, your stories don’t have to be polished; they just have to be real to hit home with someone.

PS my episode of The Marketing Chatroom with Kayla Bryant went live last week! We talked about everything from goat cheese to the WWE, and somehow, it all ties back to LinkedIn.
