🍴3 Ways to Handle a LinkedIn Creative Rut

Simple and straight forward advice inside.

If I’m being honest, showing up every day on LinkedIn can be tough.

Some days, my ideas are weak, my commitment waivers, and my creative tank is on E.

It’s frustrating, but it’s part of the creative process.

If you feel like that too, you’re obviously not alone.

Always being ON would be ideal, but it’s not real.

When I feel that funk, I don’t force it; I go back to the basics.

Here’s what I do:

3 Ways to Handle a LinkedIn Creative Rut

  1. Tweak & Repurpose High-Performing Posts

If you’re really going through it and can’t think of anything to post, thank your past self because they created content you can use today.

Scroll through your Analytics and find a top-performing post. Tweak it by:

  • Refreshing the first sentence.

  • Updating the format. (Ex: Turn a bulleted list into a carousel.)

  • Adding or taking away a few lines of text.

  • Including a picture/video if you didn't the first time.

If you need help locating your Analytics and pulling this data, I shared a Loom video + written instructions during this Lunch Break🍴

2. Spend Time Commenting

Instead of spending time trying to force a post, use it instead to comment and engage with others.

Scroll your feed, read through people’s posts, and leave comments.

You engage with other people’s content, which helps spread your name and leads to new connections (Awareness + Growth).

You can also turn your comments into content. Since you’ve already done the heavy lifting, you might as well use that content to your advantage, too!

I created a Comment Catalog. It’s a Notion template with a 20-minute countdown clock (which gets you in the habit of commenting) and a section to collect your comments so you can repurpose them later.

  1. Use a Lifeline.

You don’t have to do it on your own.

Check out LinkedIn's Collaborative Articles if you need a creative spark to break through writer’s block.

The questions are great thought-starters.

Putting yourself on LinkedIn doesn’t have to feel like another to-do on your list or an overwhelming task.

Stick to these three tips, and that creative rut will be a thing of the past.
