🍴You might have missed LinkedIn's newest metrics

They're actually helpful.

Have you seen LinkedIn’s new analytics update? I almost scrolled right past it, and it’s crazy because it might be one of the most useful updates in a while.

When you look at your analytics for an individual post, you’ll now see:

And honestly? I think that’s pretty interesting.

One of the biggest complaints about LinkedIn’s native analytics is that they’re shallow.

They’re like the one kid in high school who did just enough to graduate.

Sure, you can track views, reactions, and comments, but that doesn’t always tell you the full story if your content is working.

Matt Lakajev called out the illusion of engagement in a recent post.

You could be getting dopamine hits all day from engagement, but if your posts aren’t leading to profile views, DMs, or followers, it’s probably not helping your business.

I’ve been thinking about that a lot.

⏸️ QUICK PAUSE!

Are we connected on LinkedIn?

If not, send me a request! I share practical, behind-the-scenes insights on content strategy, ghostwriting, and building a brand on LinkedIn without the fluff!

👉 Let’s do it!

I had a high-performing post a couple of weeks ago, tons of reactions, good comment section, but what stood out most was how many profile views and new followers it drove (See the screenshot above).

That’s the kind of metric that actually signals momentum.

It’s a reminder that not every high-performing post is valuable and not every “quiet” post is a flop.

If someone’s taking the next step after seeing your content, that’s worth paying attention to.

So next time you’re reviewing a post, check those two things:

  • Did it drive profile views?

  • Did it gain you any followers?

If yes, ask yourself why and do more of that:

  • Build on the topic.

  • Find another angle.

  • Repackage and repurpose the post in a few months.

If the analytics aren’t impressive, use it as a signal to investigate why it didn’t work.

Was it:

  • Timing?

  • Topic?

  • Format?

This update doesn’t solve all the analytics woes, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

PS I recorded a quick video to help you find these analytics on your posts.
